Welcome to today blog post, I wanted to talk about fad diets and how these work. We are all trying to get fit and healthy and do the best we can to maintain our youth, endurance, and mobility. As a person that has struggled with weight my whole life I had to learn, and to be honest still need reminding, that fad diet DONT WORK!
The vicious cycle of a fad diet is that you drop a lot of weight in the beginning then as it goes your motivated until it is over and your trying to eat healthy but maybe don’t really know how and end up gaining all the weight plus some back. So you hit another fad diet. Speaking fad diets, there is so many how does one choose which one to go on. Low Fat, low carb, high protein, cabbage diet, milkshake diet, cookie, diet, take this pill, that that pill, don’t eat before 6 pm, don’t eat after 6 pm, vegetarian, vegan, it is all so confusing! So what do you do?
So here is the 411 on fad diets, don’t use them, they DONT work! The best way, fastest way, and only way to really get healthy is to eat healthy and exercise. Weight loss is 80% diet and 20% workout. Meaning you cant eat some secret food and have the perfectly fit body. Or do some exercise for 10 minutes twice a week and be model thin. The most important thing is feeding our body foods that it recognizes and can process. What does that mean you ask?
Well eating real food, no processed, GMO, or fake food. Do your shopping on the perimeter of the grocery store, picking lots of fresh fruits, vegetables, and lean meats and fish. Stay way room too much beef and pork. Have chicken breast, salmon, veggie burgers, turkey tacos, and a good healthy salad.
When it comes to working out, walk. Walking is a great exercise and it is heart healthy. Want to tone and build some muscle, start slow or hire a trainer till you learn what your doing with the weights. Trust me as a fat girl in transition exercise becomes an addiction and replaces that want for food. It could take a while but it will happen.
Lastly go in being realistic. Your body is going to crave the bad foods, you have to stick with it for a full thirty days and once you begin to feel better, have more energy, and then the healthy cravings will come. Just as with the exercise, realistically it will hurt in the beginning. You will be sore and not want to return. But force it and go at the very least 3 to 4 times a week. I now go 6 days a week, sometimes twice a day.
